China Daily won 113 awards overall at the 2022 News Awards and took home seven top prizes, including first runner-up in Arts and Culture journalism for their articles Agents of Change and Life at a Crossroads. Senior reporter Xi Tianqi received two runner-up prizes in Business News Reporting for her in-depth pieces about cross-border organ transplantation as well as fertility perseverance for cancer patients respectively.
The BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is open to researchers worldwide, and will be awarded in an impartial process that does not take sponsorship or committee influence into account. It recognizes research which contributes significantly to Hong Kong’s science and technology innovation. The judging panel will comprise representatives from academia, industry and government; in addition to members of the public. Their decision will be determined after carefully reviewing and assessing all applications received. The winning team will be recognized as Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovators of the Year, receiving a cash prize of HKD 2 Million. Furthermore, all finalists will be presented with trophies and certificates, in addition to attending a press conference with industry professionals to present their research findings to the community and receive feedback.
