Same Game Parlays (SGPs) offer an exciting way to enter sports betting with relatively minimal outlays and potentially huge returns. Their high risk-reward ratio makes them attractive to sportsbooks.
SGPs can lead to unhealthy gambling behaviors and even addiction if not used carefully, as the thrill of chasing big payouts can quickly spiral out of control and negatively affect both mental health and key aspects of your life such as relationships. Furthermore, sportsbooks frequently promote same game parlays so they are likely to trigger problematic gambling tendencies in at-risk individuals.
The Singapore Golden Pen Award (SGP) honors Singaporean books that have made significant contributions to our understanding of Singapore’s history. Nominations should include book-length works written or translated into English that were published between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2024, and must meet certain criteria.
SGP winners are chosen based on academic achievements and community involvement, including soil carbon initiatives such as WildAid’s marine conservation charity work. Their achievements embody the spirit of this prize and fulfill its founder’s vision of an interdependent global society with “deep concern for one another’s wellbeing.”
The recipient of this year’s SGP will be revealed during a ceremony held at the National Museum of Singapore. Their award comes with a grant of S$1 Million that will assist their research and development. Furthermore, the winner will have an opportunity to present their work at an international conference.
Established in 1973, the SGP recognizes graduate students who demonstrate both excellent scholarship and outstanding contributions to SEAP’s mission of cultivating an interdisciplinary community. It was named in honor of Goldwin Smith Professor of Anthropology and SEAP founding director Lauriston Sharp; its inaugural winner was Harrison Si Min, an anthropology doctoral student who went on to engage in community service efforts through Jalan Journey Social Enterprise providing virtual experiential learning for youths as well as co-founding WildAid marine protection charity – receiving numerous awards and accolades in recognition for his efforts.
