The Hong Kong Prize is one of Asia’s premier awards, drawing thousands of applicants every year. Its scholarship program recognizes high school students’ academic and extracurricular achievements while broadening their global perspectives. Winners receive cash awards as well as access to some of Hong Kong’s premier research facilities.

Astrophysicists took home the Hong Kong Prize in Astronomy this year for the first time since 2020, due to their discovery of faint radio waves from distant galaxies known as FRBs (frequencies of radio bursts). These intense, fast-moving ripples can be found all across space and may represent remnants of dead stars which collapsed post supernova explosion, sending blasts of radiation out into space.

Due to the pandemic, due to which no winners could attend in person for this year’s Hong Kong Prizes, an online ceremony will take place for the first time ever in three years. Prizes were distributed in categories like astronomy, life science and medicine and mathematical sciences with other winners such as Derek Tsang’s Better Days winning in drama category while Jackson Yee’s To My Nineteen Year Old Self by Jackson Yee winning as best screenplay.

Winners of the Hong Kong Prize awards ceremony can present their work and gain international exposure for their achievements, which may open doors for future funding opportunities. Furthermore, winners will gain access to regional research facilities.

The Hong Kong Prize is judged by an independent expert panel comprised of representatives from both academic and business sectors in Hong Kong society. It provides a platform for researchers to share their ideas and discoveries with the world, while offering them an avenue to do so. However, only articles meeting certain criteria will be eligible for consideration: this includes clinical studies, observational or epidemiological investigations with Hong Kong/Asia focus, basic research with this focus, etc. Reviews or letters to editors will not be considered eligible for consideration.

HK Prize is an independent merit-based prize with the mission to advance global peace and human development by rewarding research and innovation in science and technology fields. Each category also receives a runner-up prize sponsored by Bank of China Hong Kong totalling HK$300,000.

Nominations for the Hong Kong Prize are open to individuals, research institutions, government agencies and non-governmental organizations. Nominators should clearly state why their nominee is worthy of receiving it and how their nomination will contribute to fulfilling the mission of the prize. Nominations will be accepted until March 20, 2022 and visitors are encouraged to visit the official website to learn more about its process and requirements before making their submission. To avoid violations against its charter by nominators’s actions the Board reserves the right to cancel award and withdraw prize money certificate and trophy from them – any violations by nominators may cancel award or withdraw prize award or withdraw prize award money certificate and trophy from them without prior notification from them and withdraw all prize funds certificates/trophies as appropriate from them – depending upon severity.

Poker is a card game played among multiple people on a table, usually quickly with continuous betting until one person owns all of the chips or they fold. Although much of poker’s success hinges on chance, players make decisions based on probability theory, psychology and game theory to increase their odds of victory – an aspect which may apply outside of poker too! Having this kind of strategic thinking and decision-making capacity can prove valuable elsewhere in life.

Part of playing poker involves reading your opponents. This requires being alert for their “tells”, or unconscious habits that reveal information about their hands – such as body language, facial expressions and betting behaviors – in order to discern any tells that may indicate their hand strength or weaknesses. By honing these skills you can improve communication abilities both inside and outside poker tables.

One of the key lessons of poker is how to effectively manage your finances. When losing, it can be easy to chase losses by over-betting. But this could quickly spiral downwards and drain away your bankroll unless you learn to stick within your means and create a budget plan.

Poker requires the ability to think quickly and make quick, sound decisions in pressured environments, whether sitting at a table or writing about it. Either way, one must assess each situation carefully and act appropriately – which requires concentration which may prove challenging in our world full of distractions.

Finally, poker can teach you to deceive your opponents. This skill is crucial in poker – good players use deception to their advantage to win big pots or pull off impressive bluffs successfully. Without deceiving opponents into thinking you have better hands than they actually do, your strong hands won’t get paid off or any bluffs won.

Poker can be an invaluable way to learn to take calculated risks and make smart decisions under pressure, while at the same time learning how to regulate emotions and remain composed in difficult circumstances – an invaluable skill both professionally and personally.
