The Hongkong Prize is an award designed to acknowledge and recognise contributions by individuals in different fields, and their efforts in furthering Chinese identity in our globalized world and making our society better. Each year it is presented at an awards ceremony by an expert review committee composed of representatives in each field; winners receive both a cash grant and honorary certificate with some being invited to speak at an award ceremony as officiating guests – including representatives from Hong Kong’s government as well as various celebrities who attend as guests of honour.

The Hong Kong Arts Development Fund (HKAFD) offers financial support for senior secondary school students enrolled in government, aided, direct subsidy scheme, per capita subsidy grant and private schools as well as students equivalent in level at Vocational Training Council to pursue academic excellence and develop leadership qualities. Teachers may nominate classes individually.

HKAFD will award up to 10 prizes annually, with the Grand Prize going to the student who can demonstrate outstanding achievements both academically and in extra-curricular activities. These awards will be presented at an award ceremony featuring representatives of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government officials as officiating guests, along with several celebrities as officiating guests.

This annual prize, open to all Hong Kong students, provides them with an outlet to showcase their talent and creativity. It encourages established artists as well as young students to explore “Our Changing World” through various art forms; this year alone saw an astounding record 102 entries from both established and emerging Hong Kong artists!

The winning entries will be selected by a panel of judges and will receive a cash prize, honorary certificate, and invitation to attend the award ceremony. In addition, schools whose students win will receive an additional award of HK$20,000 towards supporting further studies or arts projects.

Generocity’s prize for innovative ideas on an HK Global Development Programme seeks to foster global humanistic exchanges and drive synergistic regional development. It presents an incredible opportunity to contribute to Hong Kong’s international development efforts while shaping its role within global society.

At this year’s film awards, an often controversial movie about Hong Kong won top honors despite being banned in mainland Chinese cinemas due to its negative portrayal. Ten Years won the best film prize at the Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday and has caused widespread uproar in China due to its controversial message and execution. This news follows accusations by a Chinese newspaper against a Hong Kong magazine of publishing “anti-China” articles, but they denied these allegations, insisting they were simply reporting facts and opinions. Tensions between Beijing and Hong Kong over China’s future in Asia continue to flare.
